Enhancing the user experience of Kotak Mahindra bank Kaymall (Super app) feature

Participated in a design competition conducted by Techfest, IIT Bombay in association with Kotak Mahindra bank. The goal was to make KayMall (Super app) effective and stand out from its competitors by incorporating a new product features to improve consumer experience so as to make it more intuitive, user friendly and engaging for users by simplified information architecture, Easing the payment process, reducing cognitive load and much more.
Won first price in product hack competition organised by Techfest, IIT Bombay and sponsored by Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Research insights
About super apps : Super Apps have become a major tech trend these days, providing a range of services in an all-in-one experience to users. Given its immense business potential, many large banks in India have also joined launched ‘super apps’, allowing users to access several services from one single app.
Who makes super apps ? Typically, companies that have a slew of services and products to offer tend to consolidate these offerings into a super app, to offer customers additional services leading to increased revenue realisations.
Why do companies want to build super-apps ? A country or a region becomes super app-ready when its large base of the population is smartphone first instead of desktop and the ecosystem of apps customised to local needs is not evolved.
Indian market : India has already become a market where a majority of those experiencing the internet for the first time are doing so on their mobile phones. This is one of the main reasons why Indian companies are looking at building super apps.

User research
Based on the research done, a user segment was selected which consisted of people operating different applications and based on that a persona was created.
Heuristic evaluation
Design flow for the app
Designed a site map diagram to structure and organisation of the application. It helped in outlining the various pages, sections, and sub-sections of a website, showing the hierarchical relationship between them.
Wireframes & Prototypes
We then brought the idea to an interactive digital low-fidelity prototype and brought it to five potential users to collect feedback.
